Deborah Baye is a contemporary artist living in Boston, MA. Her mixed media artwork with unique techniques has grown into larger scale abstract pieces representative of natural inspirations. The use of intense color and texture are signature features of her work. Deborah began her artistic journey at an early age with jewelry, pottery, and photography. Her artwork can be found in private and corporate domestic and international collections.
Deborah’s work is mixed media created on paper. Her art is spontaneous. Except for the color choice it is not usually planned resulting in free-flowing and repeating patterns. Shapes and texture are added to create playful and complex layered images.
She developed her process by doing intricate doodles and then transitioned from journaling in books to watercolor paper cards. The cards are cut into patterns of 1x1", 1x3", 2x2" or 4x4" and applied to the top and sides of birch wood frames and sealed. She has also applied her art to tables, custom boxes, and birdhouses.
Her creations remind some of the Zentangle Method, which is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life.
